Prerequisites
- Performance+ or Streams module loaded to GS2
- VLC media player is installed to computer being used for streams
- https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
- GS2 is connected to the same network as the computer being used for streams
- Open ports 9000-9009 – STREAMS Module using RTSP (9009 required for Genetec Support)

GS2 Setup
1. Sign in to the GS2 via the GRIDSMART Device Manager with an admin account.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select the Network button.
4. Make sure you are on the Network tab.
5. Uncheck Use DHCP and configure the GS2 with an available IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.
6. Select Apply Changes when you are finished.
7. Now that you have a static IP address, you will need to reset GS2 streams.
8. Select the Settings view again.
9. Select the Streams button.
10. Select the Reset tab, then click Reset Streams.
11. After you have confirmed, select Continue.
12. After about a minute, select the RTSP URLs tab. RTSP links for the static IP address you previously set should now be visible.
VLC media player Setup to Save RTSP Streams Recordings
1. Open VLC media player.
2. Select the Tools button at the top of the window, then select Preferences from the dropdown menu. You should now be seeing a window called Simple Preferences and the Interface view is selected by default.
3. Select the Input/Codecs view. Type or Browse to choose a directory to save RTSP recordings.
4. Ensure you have saved changes before moving on.
5. Exit the settings window.
Using VLC Media Player for GRIDSMART Streams
1. Open VLC media player.
2. Select the Media button from the top of the window. From the dropdown menu, select Open Network Stream…
3. Copy the network URL for the desired camera, from the RTSP URLs tab in the GRIDSMART Device Manager (this can be found within the GS2 setup section).
4. Paste the RTSP URL into the network URL: field.
Recording GRIDSMART Streams
1. After following Using VLC Media Player for GRIDSMART Streams, click the Play button. You should now see the image for the camera stream you configured.
2. To record, press the Playback button at the top of the RTSP streaming window. Click the Record button.
3. To stop the stream and view recorded streams, click the Stop button.
4. View the stream within the directory you assigned VLC media player to save recordings to (VLC media player Setup to Save RTSP Streams Recordings section).
